What are the symptoms of a failing hybrid battery?
Common warning signs include a significant drop in MPG, the engine running more frequently than usual, and the "Check Hybrid System" warning or the "Red Triangle of Death" on your dashboard. Our $100 Diagnostic can pinpoint exactly how much life is left in your battery cells.
How do you renew and replace a battery?
We replace your dead battery with a factory-grade renewed battery, which costs half the price of a dealership replacement. Renewing (or Reconditioning) involves using specialized equipment like the Prolong Pro Thunderbolt to deep-cycle, balance, and restore the existing NiMH modules to peak performance, saving you thousands while staying eco-friendly.
How much does it cost to have my battery replaced?
It cost $1,500 to replace your battery, which is half of the price as the dealership.
Do you offer a warranty on your battery services?
Yes. All our renewed batteries come with a 12 month warranty. The Warranty Levels are Standard Service - 1 Year $1,500 for most hybrids, $1,700 for Camry & ES 300h, and $2,000 for GS 450h & LS 600h. Premium Protection - 2 Year is +$350, and Ultimate Reliability - 3 Year is +$650. We stand behind our DNA Hybrid Solutions process because we test every module for capacity and internal resistance before it leaves our shop.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, we require at least 48 hours' notice for all bookings. This allows our team to prepare the specific components for your vehicle's "DNA" and ensures we can maintain our 90-minute service window.
Is there a difference between a RENEWED and a REFURBISHED hybrid battery?
Yes and no. In the hybrid industry, the terms "renewed," "refurbished," and "reconditioned" are used interchangeably to mean the same thing—restoring an existing hybrid battery pack back to health. However, you have to be VERY careful because some low-cost providers or DIYers claim they "refurbish" a battery when all they are actually doing is hooking it up to a basic charger to temporarily raise the voltage.
Simply charging a degraded battery is a very temporary fix. Because a hybrid battery is only as strong as its weakest cell, a basic charge does nothing to solve underlying imbalances or capacity loss. The battery will inevitably die again very shortly after, leaving you stranded. A true, professional renewal involves a highly technical process using specialized equipment like the Prolong Pro Thunderbolt to deep-cycle, balance, and individually load-test every single module for internal resistance and capacity. Make sure you know exactly what goes into the process before you buy, so you don't waste money on a temporary band-aid fix. However you can say “we renew hybrid batteries” and “we refurbish hybrid batteries” and both would be correct.
Where is DNA Hybrid Solutions located?
We are located in Lansing, Michigan at 326 S. Hosmer Street Lansing, MI 48912, and serve the surrounding Mid-Michigan area within a 50 mile radius of Lansing.
What are the signs of a failing hybrid battery?
Red triangle or hybrid warning light
Reduced fuel economy
Engine running more often than usual
Battery charge fluctuating quickly
Loss of power during acceleration
Trouble codes related to the hybrid system
Can I still drive with a bad hybrid battery?
Sometimes yes (often times just in limp mode which is VERY slow)—but it’s not recommended. A failing battery can leave you stranded without warning and may put additional stress on other hybrid system components. We recommend scheduling a diagnostic as soon as warning signs appear.
Will replacing my hybrid battery improve my MPG?
Yes. A healthy hybrid battery helps your vehicle use electric power more efficiently, often restoring much of the fuel economy lost as the battery deteriorated.
How long does a hybrid battery replacement take?
Here at DNA Hybrid Solutions battery replacements are completed in about 90 minutes, getting you back on the road quickly.
Do you offer mobile hybrid battery replacement?
Yes! In many cases we can come to your home or workplace, saving you the hassle of arranging a tow or visiting a repair shop.
Why shouldn’t I just go to the dealership?
Dealerships often replace the battery with a brand-new hybrid battery, which can cost $3,000+ (not including installation fees). Our goal is to provide a reliable, more affordable alternative while maintaining high quality.
Why should I get a pre-purchase inspection before buying a used car?
A used car can have hidden problems that aren’t obvious during a test drive. Our pre-purchase inspection helps identify costly issues before you buy, giving you the information you need to make a confident decision. Spending a little on an inspection now could save you thousands in unexpected repairs later.
